Cadila Pharmaceuticals Install RO Water ATMs in Gujarat Villages
The villages of Bhetawada, Transad, and Virdi have benefited from the installation of these RO Water ATMs, strategically positioned to alleviate water scarcity concerns.
Ahmedabad: Cadila Pharmaceuticals, has taken a significant step by installing RO Water ATMs in four villages within Dholka taluka of Gujarat.
In a proactive response to the persistent challenge of access to clean drinking water in rural areas, the Indrashil Kaka-Ba and Kala Budh Public Charitable Trust, the philanthropic division of Cadila Pharmaceuticals, has taken a significant step by installing RO Water ATMs in the villages of Bhetawada, Transad, and Virdi within Dholka taluka of Gujarat.
Each of these ATMs possesses a substantial capacity, producing 1,000 litres of purified water per hour, effectively catering to the entire community’s needs. Operating around the clock, these facilities offer clean drinking water to over 10,000 residents and 1,500 households at a nominal rate of Rs. 5 for 20 litres.
This impactful initiative, aimed at community welfare, has seen the installation of three RO Water ATMs at an investment of Rs. 20 lakh.
Dr. Bharat Champaneria, a Trustee, emphasized the Trust’s vision for sustainability and community involvement in this endeavor. “While we facilitated the installation of RO Water ATMs, our goal was to make it a self-sustaining venture, fostering a sense of ownership among local communities. This model benefits everyone involved, allowing villages to manage maintenance using the collected funds while ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for villagers,” stated Dr. Champaneria.
Highlighting the project’s scalability and sustainability, Dr. Champaneria stressed its adaptability to regions grappling with challenges such as high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) levels or contamination. This initiative underscores Cadila Pharmaceuticals’ commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development, aiming to uplift local communities by addressing fundamental needs.
The Trust has outlined plans to expand this initiative, exploring potential locations, assessing local conditions, feasibility, and collaborating with local authorities to implement additional RO Water ATMs.
