Mumbai | Maharashtra — In a symbolic gesture reflecting the deepening partnership between India and Botswana in the global diamond industry, the official Bharat Diamond Bourse commemorative postal stamp was presented to Botswana’s Minister of Minerals and Energy, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, during the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) International Summit in Gaborone.

Stamp Presentation Strengthens Industry Ties
The stamp, released by the Department of Posts, Government of India, was handed over by Bharat Diamond Bourse Vice President Mehul Shah while representing the Indian diamond industry at the summit.
Kenewendo expressed heartfelt appreciation for the honour and reaffirmed Botswana’s strong relationship with India, signalling growing cooperation between a leading diamond-producing nation and one of the world’s largest manufacturing hubs.
“This gesture reflects the close and trusted relationship Botswana shares with India,” the minister said during the presentation.
WFDB Summit Focuses on Future of Natural Diamonds
The WFDB International Summit brought together global government representatives, industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss the future of natural diamonds amid changing market dynamics and evolving consumer expectations.
Held in collaboration with Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy under the theme “Nation-Building and the Future of Responsible Luxury,” the summit explored key topics including transparency, sustainability, beneficiation and value creation across producing nations and trading centres.
Expanding Global Representation
Speaking at the summit, Mehul Shah welcomed the inclusion of Botswana and Angola as Nation Affiliated Members of the WFDB.
“I am very happy that Botswana and Angola have joined the WFDB as Nation Affiliated Members, broadening the Federation’s international representation and deepening engagement between producing countries and the global manufacturing community,” Shah said.
He added that presenting the Bharat Diamond Bourse stamp to Kenewendo was a “pleasure and a proud moment” for the Indian diamond sector.
