Surat | Gujarat — A major fire broke out at a warehouse of Aether Industries Limited in the industrial belt of Sachin on March 11, triggering a swift emergency response and raising concerns in the surrounding industrial estate.

The incident occurred around 12:50 pm at the company’s external warehouse located at Plot No. C-24/9 in the Hojiwala Industrial Estate. Firefighters rushed to the scene soon after receiving the alert and managed to bring the blaze under control after an intensive firefighting operation.

According to preliminary information provided by authorities and company officials, the fire reportedly originated in a common transformer belonging to Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) located on Road No. 1 behind the warehouse. The flames subsequently spread to the warehouse and also affected a nearby company.

Officials said the fire mainly damaged stored goods, while the building structure remained largely intact. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Swift response by fire teams

Fire department teams responded immediately after receiving the emergency call and launched a rapid operation to contain the blaze.

Company officials said their internal Fire and Safety Department also initiated emergency measures as soon as the fire was detected. “Our fire and safety personnel took immediate action and tried to control the flames. However, due to the intensity of the fire, the city fire department was alerted for additional support,” the company stated.

After coordinated efforts by firefighters and emergency teams, the blaze was successfully brought under control.

Company denies rumours of boiler blast

Following the incident, Aether Industries Limited issued a clarification rejecting rumours circulating on social media and in some media reports that a boiler explosion had occurred at the facility.

“The information about a boiler blast is completely false and baseless,” the company said in its statement. “The location where the fire occurred is only a warehouse and there is no boiler installed there.”

The company also dismissed speculation about extremely high temperatures at the site during the incident, describing such claims as inaccurate.

Investigation underway

Officials said the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined and a detailed investigation is currently underway.

The company also clarified that the warehouse structure consists of an open-sided tin shed with a metal roof and not a closed tin dome structure, as reported in some quarters.

Importantly, the company confirmed that the incident has not affected its major facilities or production operations. “There has been no disruption to our core manufacturing processes and operations are continuing normally,” the statement added.
