Surat | Gujarat — In a significant move to enhance infrastructure and safety at one of South Gujarat’s most promising tourist spots, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) today announced the successful installation and inauguration of 350 solar streetlights and a high-mast light tower at Suvali Beach. The facilities were officially inaugurated by Sandip Desai, MLA, Choriyasi, Surat marking the grand commencement of the three-day Suvali Beach Festival 2026.

The solar streetlights have been installed along the vital stretch from Suvali Beach to Mora Circle, while the high-mast tower light stands at the heart of the beach itself to ensure safety and visibility for evening visitors. This project follows AM/NS India’s previous contribution in June 2024, where 125 streetlights were installed to improve the approach roads to the beach.

Sandip Desai, MLA, Choriyasi stated during the event: “The development of Suvali Beach as a premier tourist destination is a priority for the state government. By integrating sustainable energy solutions like these 350 solar lights, we are not only enhancing the safety and experience of our citizens but also moving towards a greener future. We appreciate the proactive role played by AM/NS India in supporting the district administration’s vision for a vibrant coastal tourism circuit in Surat.”

Santosh Mundhada, Executive Director – Projects, Hazira & Dy. CTO, AM/NS India, said, “At AM/NS India, we believe in growing alongside our communities. Our commitment to the Hazira region extends beyond industrial excellence to sustainable social development. By illuminating the path to Suvali Beach, we aim to support the local safety, economy and promote tourism. We have been working closely with the district administration, and we remain dedicated to maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of this coastline through regular environmental initiatives.”

A Legacy of Community Development

AM/NS India has been a steadfast partner in the regional development of Hazira. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the company has regularly organized:

  • Environmental Stewardship: Large-scale cleanliness drives in association with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), including a major drive during Environment Week last year.
  • Infrastructure Support: Strategic installation of lighting and road safety measures to transform Suvali into a “go-to” weekend destination for Surtis and tourists alike.
  • Sustainability: The use of solar technology for the current project reflects the company’s focus on renewable energy and reducing the carbon footprint of public infrastructure.

The three-day festival is expected to draw large number of visitors, and the newly installed lighting infrastructure will play a crucial role in managing the evening crowds and ensuring a safe, festive atmosphere. The project reflects a core philosophy: that the strength of smarter steels is most impactful when it paves the way for brighter futures.
