Vadodara, Gujarat — A celebration of family bonds and the hope of new beginnings have tragically culminated in profound sorrow for multiple families across Gujarat, as devastating details emerge about individuals from Vadodara and Gandhinagar who were aboard the Air India flight that tragically crashed yesterday. What began as journeys for connection and opportunity ended in an unimaginable nightmare, highlighting the deeply personal cost of the aviation disaster.
Among the confirmed passengers was Nancy Patel, a 32-year-old woman originally from Bodeli in Chota Udepur, who had been married in Gandhinagar and was embarking on a solo journey to London. Her departure, filled with its own hopes and plans, was abruptly cut short by the devastating crash.
Further heartbreaking news confirms the presence of a young mother and her toddler from Vadodara. Sadikaben Mohammad Mian Sethwala, 26, and her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Fatima, were returning to their home in London. They had arrived in India on May 16, specifically to attend Sadikaben’s brother-in-law’s wedding, filling their visit with joy and family reunion. Their routine trip back home has instead become a source of immense grief, leaving relatives reeling from the sudden loss of both a young mother and a child barely begun.
Adding to the tragic roster are Neeraj Lavanya and Aparna Lavanya, a couple residing in Feather Flats in Vadodara’s Atladara area, who were also on board the ill-fated flight. Their presence underscores the widespread impact of the crash, touching lives across different communities within Gujarat.
“It’s an unbearable shock for everyone,” shared a grieving relative of one of the victims, their voice heavy with sorrow. “You send off your loved ones with prayers for a safe journey, never imagining such a horrific outcome. The void they leave behind is immense.”
