Ahmedabad’s Chitrax Bhatt won a nail-biting final to be crowned the men’s champion while Surat’s Frenaz Chipia continued her dominance over district mate Filzah Kadri by capturing the women’s crown.

Bhatt lost the first game 9-11 but slowly and gradually raised his level to fight back and win 9-11, 11-3, 11-13, 11-7, 11-2, 5-11, 11-9. Frenaz too began in an unconvincing manner, losing the opening game 7-11 but staged a superb comeback to triumph 7-11, 11-7, 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9.

Surat’s Aafrein Murad asserted her supremacy in the junior (U-19) girls’ singles, thrashing Bhavnagar’s Namna Jayswal 11-5, 11-4, 11-8, 11-8 while Baroda’s Pratham Badlani was crowned junior boys’ champion after injury forced Shlok Bajaj to concede the match.

Aravalli’s Arman Shaikh held his nerve in a pulsating junior (U-17) boys’ final, edging Surat’s Aayush Tanna 4-3. Shaikh raced off to a 2-0 lead before Tanna fought his way back, clinching the next three games. Shaikh won the crucial sixth game 14-12 before winning the decider 11-8. Shaikh triumphed 11-3, 11-7, 13-15, 6-11, 4-11, 14-12, 11-8. Ahmedabad’s Pratha Pawar eased past Bhavnagar’s Riya Jayswal 11-4, 8-11, 12-10, 11-5, 11-7 to emerge junior (U-17) girls’ champion.

Tanna overcame the disappointment of losing the U-17 crown by clinching the sub junior (U-15) boys’ singles title. He defeated Aravalli’s Janmejay Patel 11-3, 12-10, 11-3, 6-11, 11-5.  Riya edged past Mouboni Chatterjee of Ahmedabad in the sub junior (U-15) girls’ title clash winning 11-7, 8-11, 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8.

Samarth Shekhawat of Surat overcame an opening game lapse to be crowned the Cadet (U-13) boys’ champion. He overwhelmed Ahmedabad’s Malav Panchal 08-11, 11-08, 13-11, 11-8, 13-11. Mouboni didn’t return empty-handed, toppling top seed Jiya Trivedi of Ahmedabad to pocket the cadet girls’ crown. The former emerged victorious 11-5, 11-4, 11-3, 11-7.
