Ahmedabad: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport is preparing for a surge in passenger traffic with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. To ensure heightened security during this period, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) plans to deploy an additional 600 personnel.

Currently, around 1,000 CISF officials manage security at the airport, overseeing the movement of approximately 35,000 passengers daily. This significant expansion aims to strengthen security measures across all critical areas.

The focus will be on fortifying security at both domestic and international terminals, cargo handling zones, and general aviation facilities. The airport management anticipates a gradual increase in the number of sub-inspectors and constables starting from April onwards, as part of a phased approach.

Enhancing Security for a Smooth Travel Experience

“The rise in passenger traffic necessitates a proportionate increase in security personnel,” said a spokesperson for the SVPI Airport. “This deployment will allow us to maintain the highest security standards while ensuring a smooth travel experience for all passengers.”

The additional CISF personnel will undergo rigorous training to effectively manage various security protocols and procedures. This will include passenger screening, baggage inspection, and access control at all terminals and facilities.

Meeting the Demands of a Growing Airport

The decision to bolster security reflects the growing importance of SVPI Airport. In recent years, the airport has witnessed a significant rise in passenger footfall, becoming a vital hub for domestic and international travel. The additional security personnel will ensure that the airport can efficiently handle this increasing passenger volume while maintaining the highest level of safety.

“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to providing a secure and secure environment for all travelers,” the spokesperson added. “We are confident that this expansion will further enhance the reputation of SVPI Airport as a premier aviation hub in India.”

The phased deployment of CISF personnel is expected to be completed before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. This timely measure will ensure a secure and efficient travel experience for all passengers flying through Ahmedabad’s SVPI Airport.
