The Charles Walters Council for Innovation & Research (CWCIR) has introduced the Honour of Ashoka Award, a distinguished recognition honoring exceptional contributions to public administration. This award acknowledges bureaucrats and policymakers who have played a crucial role in strengthening governance, maintaining law and order, and demonstrating outstanding leadership.

More than just an accolade, the Honour of Ashoka Award aspires to establish a national benchmark for excellence in administration. It aims to inspire young aspirants preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and probationary officers to cultivate leadership qualities essential for effective governance.

CWCIR, registered under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, is a pioneering institution dedicated to advancing scientific research and technological innovation in India. Under the leadership of Abhishek Pandey, a distinguished academician with expertise in Chemistry and English, the Council has initiated significant advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, emotional intelligence, and neuro-linguistics. It also provides crucial mentorship to young innovators, guiding them through the processes of patent filing and research development.

Abhishek Pandey’s contributions to education and research have been recognized nationally, earning appreciation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Law Minister, the Governor, and the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. His efforts in establishing the Honour of Ashoka Award have also garnered attention from the Defence Minister of India. Additionally, his advocacy for Indian Teaching Services (ITS) has been commended by the Education Minister, while his large-scale self-defense training initiative for girls across 13 states has been acknowledged by the Home Minister of India, the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, and NSA Shri Ajit Doval.

The award ceremony saw the participation of several esteemed personalities from governance, defense, and academia, including Gen. JJ Singh (Former Army Chief & Former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh), Shri Shekhar Dutt (Retd IAS, Former Deputy NSA, Defence Secretary & Governor of Chhattisgarh), General Deepak Kapoor (Former Chief of Army Staff), Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar (National Science Chair, JNU), Shri Subodh Kant Sahay (Former Cabinet Minister), Shri Saurabh Tiwari (Additional Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat of India), Acharya Lokesh Muni, Dr. Sandeep Marwah (Chancellor, AAFT), and Lt Gen AB Shivane.

Presiding over the event was Justice BP Singh, former Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court and Supreme Court Judge, with the presence of Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan, former Minister of State for Education and External Affairs, along with several Supreme Court judges, further elevating the event’s significance.

The Honour of Ashoka Award is set to become a landmark in India’s administrative history, setting new standards for governance, leadership, and innovation. By recognizing the finest minds in public administration, this initiative aims to inspire future generations and ensure that India’s governance continues to evolve with excellence, commitment, and transformative vision.
