Surat : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken notice of the widespread distribution of fictitious pamphlets in Surat’s Patidar-dominated areas of the diamond district under the name ‘Kejriwal’s Guarantee,’ which purport to list seven promises for the minority community.

The fake pamphlets are in circulation in the assembly constituencies where the AAP has fielded prominent figures of the Patidar quota agitation leaders such as Gujarat AAP chief Gopal Italia in Katargam, Alpesh Kathiriya in Varachha, Dharmik Malaviya in Olpad, Manoj Sorathiya in Karanj and Ram Dhaduk in Kamrej. A new entrant in the Gujarat politics, AAP is trying to establish its supremacy as the strong contender of BJP in the coming assembly polls.

AAP is banking heavily on the Patidar votes in the diamond district of Surat to win a couple of seats in the coming election.

Among the many promises made in the fake pamphlets bearing the ‘guarantee stamp’ and a picture of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal are monthly salaries of Rs 10,000 for the Maulvis, financial aid of Rs 2 lakh to each of the Masjids, Dargahs, and Mazars, and financial aid of Rs 25,000 to each of the Madrassas; a 100 percent subsidy for Hajj pilgrims, regularizing illegal constructions free-of-cost in minority areas, interest-free loans of Rs 10 lakh to the minority traders, Rs 5 lakh interest-free loan for the higher education of children from minority community etc.

“Had the BJP done good deeds and works in Gujarat in their 27 years of regime, they would not have to circulate such fake pamphlets in the name of Arvind Kejriwal,” Yogesh Jadhwani, a spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party in Surat, said. The BJP should muster the guts to ask the people of Gujarat for their votes instead of spreading misleading pamphlets.

This, Jadhwani remarked, is “divisive politics and hooliganism by the BJP on the final day of election campaigning for the first phase elections in the poll-bound Surat.”

The Surat AAP unit circulated the original guarantees promised by Arvind Kejriwal along with the fake pamphlets on the social media platforms.
