HPV Drive Targets 100% Coverage Across UT Administration of DNHDD

DAMAN: The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu has stepped up its HPV vaccination drive, targeting 100% coverage among eligible girls to strengthen protection against cervical cancer.

On September 17, special vaccination camps were held at three schools—Gautam Buddha Higher Secondary School in Kachigam, Daman, and CPS Tokarkhada and Swami Vivekanand School in Dadra & Nagar Haveli. A total of 142 teenage girls received the HPV vaccine.

The campaign, organised by the Directorate of Education under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, is aimed at girls aged 14 to below 15 years.

Administrator Praful Patel visited the camps, interacted with students and parents and encouraged eligible girls to participate in the programme.

“Taking the HPV vaccine is an important step towards safeguarding your health,” Patel told the girls, while appreciating the Education and Health Departments for their coordinated efforts.

According to the administration, 2,704 of the 5,968 eligible girls across the UT have been vaccinated so far.

Diu has achieved 100% coverage, with 323 girls vaccinated against a target of 305. Daman has covered 1,118 of 1,306 girls, while Dadra & Nagar Haveli has vaccinated 1,263 of its 4,357 target.

Officials aim to complete vaccination in Daman by September 23 and Dadra & Nagar Haveli by October 2.
