Apple has officially launched the Apple Watch Series 12 in India, bringing a major upgrade to health tracking with a new Health Sensing System, higher-frequency heart rate and HRV measurements, a new Readiness score and the S11 chip.
The Apple Watch Series 12 price in India starts at ₹56,900, while the Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at ₹1,09,900. Both models are available for pre-order, with retail availability beginning September 18, 2026.
Apple Watch Series 12 Price in India
The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at ₹56,900 in India. Apple has positioned the new smartwatch as a significant health and fitness upgrade rather than simply a design refresh.
The premium Apple Watch Ultra 4 starts at ₹1,09,900 in India.
Pre-orders for the new watches have opened, while customers can buy them from stores starting September 18.
Apple Watch Series 12 Gets New Health Sensing System
One of the biggest upgrades on the Apple Watch Series 12 is Apple’s new Health Sensing System.
The system combines new optical and electrical heart sensors with larger, power-efficient green LEDs. Apple says the new hardware allows the watch to measure heart rate every five seconds throughout the day.
The company also says the new sensing system provides more frequent heart rate variability, or HRV, measurements. This data is used to provide deeper insights into activity, recovery and overall fitness.
Apple says a study involving more than 1,000 participants found that the new Apple Watch had the highest heart-rate accuracy among the wearable devices tested.
New Readiness Score on Apple Watch Series 12
The Readiness feature is another major addition to the Apple Watch Series 12.
It analyses recent activity, training load, vitals and sleep data to generate a 0-to-10 daily score. The watch then provides guidance such as Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready or Go For It.
The score can change during the day as new information is collected, including after an intense workout or changes in daytime health measurements.
Apple says the Readiness algorithm was developed using data from its Heart and Movement Study in collaboration with exercise scientists and physicians.
Heart Rate Tracking Every Five Seconds
The Apple Watch Series 12 now continuously measures heart rate at five-second intervals.
The higher-frequency measurements also improve the watch’s ability to monitor HRV. Apple has added recovery HRV to overnight vitals, allowing users to compare measurements against their personal baseline.
A new daytime vitals view also lets users switch between daytime and overnight measurements.
Apple Watch Series 12 Gets S11 Chip
Powering the new Apple Watch Series 12 is Apple’s S11 chip.
The new processor not only handles health and fitness features but also enables additional Apple Intelligence and Audio Intelligence capabilities arriving with the latest software updates.
Apple says these features are designed with privacy in mind, with processing taking place on the device for supported functions.
Audio Intelligence Coming to Apple Watch
Apple is also bringing new Audio Intelligence features to the watch later this year.
These include Sound Recognition, Live Rewind and Siri Recap. The features are designed to help users recognise important sounds and remember parts of conversations.
Apple says raw audio is not recorded or stored for these features, with processing handled in an isolated part of the chip and the audio subsequently deleted.
Apple Watch Series 12 and watchOS 27
The Apple Watch Series 12 will run watchOS 27, which brings additional Apple Intelligence-powered capabilities to the smartwatch.
Apple says Siri AI on Apple Watch will gain personal-context understanding and broader knowledge. watchOS 27 is scheduled to become available on September 14 for compatible Apple Watch models.
Apple Watch Series 12 vs Ultra 4
While the Apple Watch Series 12 targets mainstream users, the Ultra 4 is designed for athletes, outdoor enthusiasts and users who want longer battery life.
The Ultra 4 supports up to 45 hours of outdoor workout tracking in its longest mode and also gets the same new Health Sensing System and Readiness features.
The Ultra 4 starts at ₹1,09,900 in India, making the Series 12 the more affordable option for users who want Apple’s latest health-tracking technology.
