Surat Dumas Farmhouse Raid: 22 Youth Held Over High-Profile Liquor Party

SURAT : A luxury birthday celebration in Surat’s Dumas area turned into a police crackdown after 22 young men and women were allegedly caught consuming liquor at a farmhouse barely 300 metres from a police station. What police found inside added another twist: drinking was allegedly being organised through game boards modelled on Ludo, Snakes and Ladders and card games.

The raid was conducted around 2.30am at Jashn Villa 12-A in Bapuji’s Wadi, Sultanabad, following specific information received by Dumas police. According to ACP Shweta Daniel, eight women and 14 men, aged between 21 and 27, were caught at the party.

“During the raid, 22 young men and women were caught red-handed at the farmhouse enjoying a drink,” Daniel said.

Police said the group included college students, private-sector employees, businessmen and job seekers. Investigators have also begun questioning the farmhouse owner to establish how much the premises were rented for and the exact purpose for which it was booked.

Among the items allegedly recovered were foreign liquor bottles and several drinking-game boards. A Ludo-style board reportedly assigned different quantities of alcohol depending on the number rolled on the dice, with instructions including “short drink”, “two short drinks” and “ladies’ drink”.

Police also found a “BLACK OUT” board featuring drinking instructions and party challenges, while a “SHOTS AND LADDERS” board reportedly combined dice-based movement with commands such as taking or giving a shot, along with truth-or-dare tasks.

A “Card Roulette” chart allegedly prescribed drinking rules based on cards drawn, including group drinking instructions.

The location has also raised questions over enforcement, as the farmhouse is reportedly just 50 metres from a de-addiction centre. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the party, liquor supply and farmhouse booking.
