19 Gujarat Cops Get Independence Day Police Medals

GANDHINAGAR: Recognition has come for 19 Gujarat Police personnel in the Independence Day 2026 honours, with two senior officers selected for the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and 17 others chosen for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).

According to the state-wise and force-wise list released for Independence Day, Amit Kumar Kishor Vishwakarma, Additional Director General of Police, Gujarat, and Bahadursinh Abhesinh Chudasama, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gujarat, have been selected for the PSM.

The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service recognises exceptional ability, dedication and distinguished service in the discharge of official responsibilities.

The remaining 17 Gujarat Police personnel have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service, recognising sustained and valuable service and commitment to duty.

The MSM awardees include personnel from a wide range of ranks, reflecting contributions made across Gujarat Police’s supervisory, investigative and field operations.

The awardees are Saurabh Daulal Tolumbia (Inspector General), Kanaiya Laxmanbhai Vaghela (Deputy Superintendent of Police), Bababai Ramjibhai Koli (Inspector), Balvantsinhji Motisinhji Solanki (Armed Police Sub-Inspector), Dilipsinh Kiritsinh Rana (Assistant Sub-Inspector), Sandip Mahendrabhai Patel (Sub-Inspector), Jaysinh Ghanshyamsinh Raj (Sub-Inspector), Dineshkumar Manibhai Patel (Sub-Inspector), Anil Shivraman Nair (Sub-Inspector), Nanji Tarshibhai Aghera (Armed Police Sub-Inspector), Sabbir Khan Karim Khan Theba (Assistant Sub-Inspector), Ajay Prahaladbhai Oza (Head Constable), Tarunsinh Ganpatsinh Solanki (Head Constable), Uttamsinh Gunvantsinh Zala (Sub-Inspector), Rajeshkumar Karshanbhai Mir (Head Constable), Bharatsinh Natvarsinh Vaghela (Sub-Inspector), and Kalpeshkumar Somabhai Desai (Assistant Sub-Inspector).

“These honours recognise the dedication, professionalism and sustained commitment of personnel who have served with distinction,” officials said.

The Independence Day service medals are announced annually to honour personnel from police and other uniformed services for distinguished and meritorious contributions.

This year’s Gujarat list spans senior officers as well as personnel working at operational and field levels, highlighting the role of the entire police force in maintaining law and order and serving the public.
