AHMEDABAD : ITC Narmada, a Luxury Collection hotel in Ahmedabad, will host ‘Shifu’s Apprentice’, a week-long Chinese culinary festival at its signature pan-asian cuisine restaurant, Yi Jing, from July 16 to 23. Guests will have the opportunity to experience the culinary creations of internationally acclaimed Master Chef Liang Xiaoqing, founder of Yi Jing in India and a globally recognised ambassador of Chinese cuisine.
With 46 years of culinary experience, Master Liang has dedicated his career to preserving and promoting authentic Chinese culinary traditions across the world. At Yi Jing, Master Liang will present a specially curated menu that celebrates the depth and diversity of Chinese cuisine through time-honoured cooking techniques and regional flavours.
The festival offers diners an opportunity to experience authentic Chinese cuisine through these dishes that showcase traditional techniques, regional flavours and decades of culinary expertise.
Guests can savour handcrafted crystal dumplings, Chef Liang’s signature roast duck, rustic braised tofu, hand-pulled knife-sliced noodles, Fujian-style seafood fried rice and classic desserts, complemented by an exclusive selection of signature beverages.
Beyond signature favourites, the festival showcases the finesse of traditional Chinese cooking through handcrafted dim sum, delicately balanced soups, flavourful appetisers and regional specialities prepared using time-honoured techniques. The menu has been thoughtfully curated to reflect the diversity of Chinese cuisine, with dishes ranging from wholesome vegetarian preparations and wok-tossed classics to premium seafood, succulent meats and handmade noodles. Guests can conclude their culinary journey with classic desserts and a selection of artisanal beverages, making Shifu’s Apprentice a complete gastronomic experience that celebrates authenticity, precision and the artistry of Chinese cuisine.
Chef Liang, who began his culinary journey in 1980, currently chairs the International Chinese Cuisine Communication Committee under the World Federation of Chinese Chefs and has received several international honours for advancing Chinese food culture. In 2025, the China Cuisine Association recognised him among the country’s Top Eight Chefs of Remarkable Chinese Flavors and inducted him into the China Cuisine Hall of Fame Inheritance Directory.
