NAVSARI : Navsari is preparing an ambitious roadmap to emerge as a stronger export hub in Gujarat. The district administration has initiated a comprehensive Navsari District Export Action Plan, bringing together government departments, industry experts and export stakeholders to unlock the district’s global trade potential.
An important meeting on the District Export Action Plan was held under the chairmanship of the Navsari District Collector on July 4. The discussions focused on increasing exports of key products, including mangoes, chickpeas, textiles, gems and jewellery, while identifying new international markets.
Representing Mantra under the Ministry of Textiles, Dr. Hitesh Jariwala, Deputy Director and Scientist, stressed the need to build the export strategy from the grassroots level.
“The district export action plan should begin with a detailed SWOT analysis focused on farmers and the textile industry. Modern export infrastructure, quality certification, training programmes and market identification are essential to achieve sustainable export growth,” Dr. Jariwala said.
He also recommended preparing both short-term and long-term strategies for the next five years with measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress. His suggestions received appreciation from the District Collector and officials, who expressed a positive approach towards incorporating them into the district’s export planning.
Officials from the District Industries Centre, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and representatives from various sectors also participated in the meeting. They pledged coordinated efforts to strengthen Navsari’s export ecosystem.
The discussions continued at the national level on July 13 during a video conference organised by the District as Export Hub Initiative under the DGFT Headquarters. The meeting was chaired by Director General of Foreign Trade Lav Agarwal.
Dr. Pankaj Gandhi, Director of Mantra, and Dr. Hitesh Jariwala participated in the review meeting and shared recommendations on implementing export promotion activities across the district.
The initiative is expected to improve export readiness, create new business opportunities and position Navsari as a competitive export destination in Gujarat over the coming years.
