Surat Constable’s Daring Seventh-Floor Rescue Saves Suicide Attempt Victim : VIDEO

Surat | Gujarat — A dramatic rescue by Surat City Police has won widespread admiration after a police constable risked his own life to save a man who had allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison inside his locked seventh-floor apartment in the Laskana area of Surat.

The incident occurred on the evening of June 8 when Surat Police received an emergency call from a distressed woman reporting that her husband had allegedly consumed a poisonous substance and was attempting to end his life. The police control room immediately alerted the Laskana Police Station Dial 112 team, along with Fire and Emergency Services and an ambulance.

The Dial 112 PCR van reached the location first and found the apartment locked from the inside. With every second proving critical, Police Constable Shailesh Chudasama and driver Kripalsinh Gohil accessed a neighbouring flat and devised a way to reach the victim.

Displaying exceptional courage, Constable Chudasama climbed across the exterior grill of the building and entered the apartment through a window after repeated attempts to get the occupant to open the door.

“The door was locked from inside. We managed to enter and found that the man had consumed a poisonous substance. I immediately restrained him and removed the remaining substance from his possession. As he was vomiting and his condition was deteriorating, we rushed him towards the hospital without waiting for the ambulance,” Chudasama said.

The victim, identified as Kunal (name changed), who works in the diamond cutting and polishing industry, was later shifted to a hospital for emergency treatment and survived due to the timely intervention.

A video of the daring rescue has since gone viral on social media, drawing praise from citizens and public figures alike. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi commended the officers for their bravery and dedication.
