AAP Spokesperson Booked for Rape and Threats in Surat

Surat | Gujarat — A sensational criminal complaint against an Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson has sent shockwaves through political and social circles in Surat. Police have registered a case of rape and criminal intimidation against Kalu Vaghasia following allegations made by a married woman from the Laskana area. The case, which reportedly involves promises of marriage, alleged sexual exploitation and death threats, has triggered intense public scrutiny.

The accused is associated with the Aam Aadmi Party and the complaint has drawn attention due to the political implications and seriousness of the charges.

Social Media Friendship That Turned Into Allegations

According to the FIR, the complainant first came into contact with Vaghasia on social media in December 2024. What began as casual online conversations soon developed into a closer relationship. The woman alleged that Vaghasia gained her trust by sharing details of his troubled marriage and claiming he was living separately from his wife.

Investigators say he allegedly promised to divorce his wife and marry the complainant, convincing her to continue the relationship.

Alleged Sexual Exploitation Over Months

The woman has alleged that she entered into the relationship believing the promise of marriage. The complaint states that the accused allegedly took her to his residence and several hotels across the city, where he repeatedly had sexual relations with her under the pretext of marriage.

When the woman later pressured him to fulfil his promise, the relationship allegedly turned hostile.

Threats Referencing a Past Controversy

The FIR claims that Vaghasia refused marriage and began threatening the woman when she insisted. He allegedly warned her not to approach the police and threatened to harm himself in a manner similar to Tushar Ghelani, while also threatening consequences for her and her son.

A police official stated, “The complainant has made serious allegations of rape and threats to kill. We are collecting evidence and recording statements as part of the investigation.”

Police Launch Investigation

The complaint has been registered at Laskana Police Station under charges of rape and criminal intimidation. Officers confirmed that further investigation is underway and appropriate action will follow based on evidence.
