Ahmedabad | Gujarat — Ahmedabad-headquartered textile-to-solar conglomerate, Chiripal Group on Saturday concluded its citywide Open Street Chess Series with the final tournament held at Nexus Ahmedabad One Mall. More than 220 players participated on the final day of the Chiripal Chess Series 2026.

The initiative that engaged over 600 participants across the city was held over the three tournaments each on a weekend. The third and final leg of the blitz-format series marked the culmination of a month-long effort to take chess into public spaces, following earlier tournaments at the Sabarmati Riverfront and Sindhu Bhavan Road.

“Following the encouraging response across all three tournaments, it is heartening to see the initiative culminate with such strong participation. Through this series, we aimed to build a more inclusive and engaging chess culture in Ahmedabad by bringing the game closer to communities and inspiring young and first-time players. We aspire and hope to continue with the initiative in the years to come. At Chiripal Group, we believe in taking the lead for nurturing the sports ecosystem at the grassroots level and up,” said Ronak Chiripal, Promoter, Chiripal Group.

The initiative is aimed at taking chess beyond clubs and closed venues into accessible public spaces, giving new players an opportunity to experience the excitement of competitive play in a structured format.

Organised under the guidance of Ankit Dalal of My Sport Trip, the series maintained its focus on accessibility and inclusivity, encouraging participation from children, first-time players and visually impaired participants.

The competition followed the blitz format, one of the fastest and most dynamic formats of chess, with games played at a time control of three minutes plus a two-second increment.

Each tournament featured a prize pool of Rs 25,000 along with vouchers worth Rs 1.5 lakh, reinforcing the competitive yet accessible nature of the series. The initiative also recognised all participants under the age of 13 with medals.

Through the Chiripal Chess Series, the Chiripal Group aims to transform public spaces into vibrant arenas of strategic play while nurturing a new generation of chess enthusiasts across Ahmedabad.
