India vs New Zealand Final: T20 World Cup Tickets Sold Up to Rs.1.5 Lakh in Black Market

Ahmedabad | Gujarat — As cricket fever grips the nation ahead of the high-voltage T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand, a massive black market for match tickets has surfaced in Ahmedabad. While thousands of fans are desperate to witness the historic clash live, ticket agents and scalpers are reportedly selling passes at prices up to ten times the original value.

The much-anticipated final will take place on March 8 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With official tickets already sold out, agents have become increasingly active, selling previously hoarded tickets at inflated prices through social media platforms and private contacts.

According to several buyers and agents, tickets originally priced around ₹2,000 are now being sold for as high as ₹15,000. Premium seating options have reached even more shocking figures. Tickets for the stadium’s luxurious President Gallery are reportedly being quoted at nearly ₹1.5 lakh.

A ticket agent contacted during the investigation admitted that prices have skyrocketed due to overwhelming demand. “The original price has increased six to ten times. As the match gets closer, the price will go up even more,” the agent claimed.

Many agents have turned to platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram to quietly advertise their availability. Typically, they post a simple message such as “Tickets Available” along with an image of the ticket. Interested buyers are then asked to contact them privately to negotiate the price.

In most cases, buyers are asked to pay a token advance to confirm the deal. After receiving the payment, agents arrange a meeting at a predetermined location to hand over the ticket. This informal system makes it difficult for authorities to track the transactions.

Sources familiar with the ticketing process have also raised concerns about possible insider involvement. One agent alleged that some individuals connected with box office operations may be diverting tickets before the official sale begins.

“Some employees allegedly remove tickets before the counters open and pass them to agents. Others reportedly book tickets themselves as soon as the online slot opens,” the agent claimed.

While these allegations have not been officially confirmed, they have raised serious questions about transparency in ticket distribution for one of the world’s biggest cricket events.
