Massive fire engulfs packaging units in Daman’s Dabhel area

Daman | UT — A massive fire broke out in a packaging factory in Dabhel area of ​​Union Territory Daman, adjacent to Valsad district on Monday afternoon. Due to strong winds and a blast in a chemical drum, the fire quickly took on a fiery form, the plumes of smoke could be clearly seen even from 2 km away. A brigade call has been announced following the fierce fire. No casualty is reported. 

The first fire broke out in ACE Packaging Company located in Dabhel, Daman. Ashok Patel, a member of Daman District Panchayat, said that first the fire broke out in Total Packaging, due to the explosion of a chemical drum, the fire spread rapidly and also engulfed the ACE Packaging Company located beside it. 

The fire became more uncontrollable due to the strong wind blowing at the time of the incident. Due to the speed of the wind, the flames quickly spread from one unit to another, due to which the fire department was having a hard time controlling the fire.

Given the seriousness of the fire, a ‘brigade call’ was issued. Firefighters from Daman, Silvassa, Vapi and Sarigam immediately reached the spot. In addition to the government administration, help has also been taken from fire brigades of private companies in the union territory and Gujarat. About 15 fire brigade vehicles were engaged in extinguishing the fire at the scene.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. As soon as the fire broke out, there was panic among the workers and people ran out to save their lives. Raw materials worth crores and expensive machinery kept in both the packaging units have been burnt to ashes. An investigation has been ordered by the system to find out the exact cause of the fire.

As soon as the fire broke out, there was a huge atmosphere of fear among the workers working in the factory and there was a rush to save their lives. As the fire was rapidly spreading, the Daman Fire Brigade teams immediately reached the spot. In order to control the fire, additional teams of firefighters from Daman and nearby areas of Gujarat had to be called.

The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. An investigation has been ordered by the administration in this regard.
