Surat | Gujarat — A comprehensive planning and review meeting was held at the Surat District Collector’s office under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, focusing on a wide range of development projects in the Choryasi Legislative Assembly. The projects are being implemented from 1/3 of the consolidated tax collected from the Hazira and Sachin industrial areas for the year 2025-26.

The meeting discussed key infrastructure and community development initiatives, including water supply, sewer lines, street lights, primary schools, protection and compound walls, roads, paver blocks, pond expansion and beautification, solar plants, sweeper machine installation, Muktidham development, community sheds, and Halpati housing works.

MLA Sandeep Desai, who was present in the meeting, strongly pressed for the speedy completion of ongoing works that had been approved in previous years. He further urged officials to accelerate pending projects and to implement new proposals received for the current financial year without delay.

Speaking at the review, Desai said, “People have placed their trust in us to ensure these funds are utilized effectively. Many works have been approved earlier but are still pending. It is our collective responsibility to see that the benefits of these development works reach the villages and communities of Choryasi at the earliest.”

Ahead of the meeting, Desai had also met with local Sarpanches and community leaders, suggesting that projects should be planned with the needs of local residents in mind. He emphasized that development must be inclusive and visible on the ground, not just on paper.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including District Development Officer Shivani Goyal, Divisional Manager (Specified Area) Digvijay Singh Ghanghar, Regional Manager Pankaj Acharya, District Rural Development Agency representative A.B. Prajapati, District Planning Officer R.R. Bhabhor, and Executive Engineer (Roads & Buildings) K.K. Patel.

Representatives of the beneficiary villages also took part. Among them were Mora village Sarpanch Bharatbhai Patel, Bhatlai Sarpanch Narmadaben Patel, Hazira Sarpanch Madhuben Rathod, Sunvali Sarpanch Ushaben Ahir, Damka Sarpanch Tulsibhai Patel, and other local leaders.

Collector Dr. Pardhi assured that the administration is committed to efficient monitoring and timely execution of these projects.

“Every rupee collected under the consolidated tax must reflect tangible improvements for the people of Choryasi. The focus is not only on infrastructure but also on community welfare, education, and sustainable development,” he stated.

The 1/3 consolidated tax contribution from Hazira and Sachin has become a significant source of funding for rural and semi-urban development in Choryasi. Stakeholders believe that with proper planning and accountability, these funds can transform local infrastructure and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents.
