Gandhinagar, Gujarat – Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented appointment letters to 2,320 newly recruited youth conductors of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (S.T.) and 144 newly appointed officers of various cadres in the Water Supply Board in an event held at Mahatma Mandir.

While describing this new youth workforce as part of India’s demographic dividend, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that their services will infuse fresh momentum into building Viksit Gujarat @2047 — a vital step toward realising the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

He stated that S.T. services empower the lives of the common man, while water is a fundamental necessity for every individual, making both sectors equally vital to the state’s development.

In this context, the Chief Minister said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi, Gujarat has emerged as a role model for the nation’s development.

He added that Gujarat, which once faced severe water scarcity, has now transformed into a state that has achieved a water revolution through robust water management, an extensive water grid, and optimal utilisation of Narmada waters.

The Gujarat CM said that the newly appointed conductors in S.T., which acts as a lifeline for transportation across both rural and urban regions, have received a noble opportunity to serve the people.

He emphasised the transformative reforms in the S.T. Corporation, driven by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to providing affordable, quality, safe, and technology-enabled transport services to the people. He acknowledged the significant role of employee unions in supporting these public service efforts and ensuring uninterrupted S.T. services. He further added that today, new A.C. Volvo buses, sleeper coaches, and electric buses are actively operating on the roads of the state.

Referring to the online processes introduced in government services by Prime Minister  Narendra Modi, Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel said that these reforms have significantly enhanced transparency and efficiency in the recruitment system. He expressed confidence that the ten-year recruitment calendar introduced by the state government would facilitate systematic manpower planning and help build a tech-savvy, youth-driven workforce committed to national service. The Chief Minister also extended his best wishes for a bright and successful future to all the newly appointed candidates.

Describing the youth of the Amrit Kaal as the “Amrit Generation,” the Chief Minister called upon the newly appointed youth employees to become torchbearers in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat during this Amrit Kaal — a vision rooted in noble commitments like cleanliness and water conservation.

While congratulating all the newly appointed officers and employees joining government service, Water Supply Minister Shri Kunvarji Bavaliya stated that today, you have transitioned from competitive exam aspirants to public servants. You now have a vital role to play in ensuring water reaches every citizen, even in the remotest corners of the state. He further said that a total of 3,542 new positions will be filled in the Water Resources and Water Supply Departments in the coming years.

The Minister further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat is advancing swiftly along the well-established path of development envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasised that the responsibility to sustain and accelerate this continuous journey of progress now rests with all those entering government service. Addressing the newly appointed government servants, he urged them to uphold the highest standards of dedication, accountability, and integrity, and to make meaningful contributions to public service.

Extending best wishes to the 2,320 candidates appointed as conductors in the S.T. Corporation and those selected for various posts in the Water Supply Department, Minister of state for Transport Shri Harsh Sanghavi stated that, I extend my congratulations to all 2,320 candidates who have successfully cleared the examination conducted by the state government using advanced technology and have now become a part of the S.T. family through their skills and merit. He further added that Gujarat S.T. is not merely a transport system but the lifeline of every citizen in the state, providing vital connectivity from remote villages to urban centres.

The Minister further added that under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, and driven by the vision of State Transport Corporation officials and the dedication of its employees, Gujarat S.T. is not only enhancing citizen services but also setting record-breaking benchmarks in the state’s transport sector. Gujarat State Transport is a matter of pride for the state.

He said that, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision to encourage citizens to reduce dependence on private vehicles, a total of 2,905 new buses have been made operational for public transport within a year. This includes the highest number of Volvo buses. Furthermore, 27 new bus stations have been developed to improve commuter convenience across the state. Furthermore, 13 new workstations have been established and foundation stones have been laid for 35 new projects, which include 20 bus stations and 15 depots.

He further stated that under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the ST Corporation has increased its daily passengers from 22 lakh to 25 lakh passengers. Arrangements are now in progress to enhance the system further, to enable 30 lakh passengers in Gujarat to travel via S.T. services by the year 2027.
