Viral Desai’s 7-Day Tree Drive for Environment Day 2025

Surat, Gujarat – Marking World Environment Day 2025 with a renewed commitment to ecological sustainability, environmental crusader Viral Desai, popularly known as the ‘Greenman’, has launched a special seven-day tree plantation drive across Surat and Navsari districts. The campaign, which commenced this week, will see the plantation of over 1,000 trees at seven different locations, including Maroli-Kadoli, Sarthana, and Sachin.

Speaking about the initiative, Viral Desai said, “We celebrate Environment Day through various activities all year round, but this time, we are inspired by the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose 150th birth anniversary is being commemorated this year. His principles of cleanliness, unity, and environmental stewardship guide our mission.”

The week-long campaign blends ecological action with a strong sense of social responsibility, drawing attention to the urgent need to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices at the grassroots level.

Desai’s track record in environmental conservation is both impressive and inspiring. He has planted more than 6.5 lakh trees across Gujarat and launched several award-winning green campaigns. His flagship initiative, ‘Satyagraha Against Pollution and Climate Change’, has trained over 2 lakh students and youth to become environmental warriors, sparking a widespread movement for ecological awareness among the younger generation.

“Climate change isn’t a distant threat—it’s already here. We need youth-driven, ground-level solutions. Planting trees is one of the simplest, most effective ways to combat this crisis,” Desai emphasized during the launch.

Local residents, school children, and community leaders have joined the initiative with enthusiasm, making it a participatory green movement.

With the World Environment Day 2025 theme focused on “Ecosystem Restoration”, Viral Desai’s campaign stands as a shining example of how individual action, driven by vision and values, can create tangible environmental impact.
