Gandhinagar, Gujarat – In a decisive stride towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India@2047, Gujarat has solidified its position as a national leader in industrial and MSME growth. Through the effective implementation of a liberal industrial policy under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput, the state has extended financial support of over ₹7,864 crore to more than 1.3 lakh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) between 2020-21 and 2024-25.

This massive support underlines Gujarat’s relentless push for economic empowerment and self-reliance, especially in the MSME sector, which forms the backbone of India’s industrial ecosystem.

Gujarat Tops in ZED Certification Across India

As part of its quality-driven strategy, Gujarat leads the country in Zero Effect Zero Defect (ZED) certification. The state boasts over 89,000 ZED-registered and 59,000 ZED-certified MSMEs, showcasing its commitment to quality production with minimal environmental impact. This initiative promotes competitiveness, cleaner production, and increased market confidence.

Over 23.79 Lakh Enterprises Registered Since 2020

Following the Union Ministry of MSME’s move to replace the ‘Industry Aadhaar Memorandum’ with the ‘Enterprise Registration Certificate’, Gujarat has seen a registration surge. Over 23.79 lakh enterprises have been officially registered in the state from 2020 to 2025—proof of the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit fostered through Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem.

Vibrant Gujarat, Gunavatta Yatra Push Local Growth

To further promote local industries and economic decentralization, the Vibrant Gujarat-Vibrant District (VGVD) Festival was held in all districts in October 2023. The initiative was aimed at showcasing One District One Product (ODOP) offerings and encouraging exports of local specialties.

Building on this momentum, the Gunavatta Yatra, launched in April 2025, is being conducted across all districts to spread awareness about quality, encourage industry participation, and drive grassroots-level growth.

MSME Subsidies and Participation Incentives

The Industrial Policy 2020 introduced significant support for MSME participation in domestic and international exhibitions. Subsidies include:

Up to ₹50,000 for state-level events

₹1 lakh for national-level

₹2 lakh for international events within India

₹5 lakh for international exhibitions abroad

Between April and December 2024, ₹5 crore was disbursed to 852 approved applications under this scheme. Additionally, 60% assistance is given to organizers for electricity bills during exhibitions.

Faster Dispute Resolution with Regional MSEFC Councils

To tackle delayed payments and commercial disputes swiftly, Gujarat now operates six Regional Micro and Small Enterprise Facilitation Councils (MSEFCs) in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, and Kutch. These bodies resolved 1,081 cases between January and December 2024 alone.

Massive Subsidy Disbursal under MSME Policies

Under the 2015 Industrial Policy, over ₹137 crore was disbursed in capital investment and interest subsidies to 4,400 MSME units in 2024-25. Under the Self-reliant Gujarat Scheme for Assistance to MSMEs-2022, over ₹345 crore has been given to 8,700 applicants, along with ₹245 crore to an additional 2,400 claims—boosting growth, self-reliance, and resilience in Gujarat’s industrial sector.
