Ahmedabad, Gujarat : In a shocking revelation of corruption within the Ahmedabad Police, a Chandkheda officer has been caught red-handed in a bribery case, exposing a major breach of law enforcement ethics. While the city police commissioner is cracking down on crime to maintain law and order, some officers are exploiting their power for personal gain. One such officer, Rajnish Hirabhai Shrimali, fell into the trap set by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Shrimali, stationed at the Chandkheda police station, allegedly demanded ₹5.30 lakh from an individual implicated in a liquor case. The bribe was intended to ensure that the person was not formally charged under the stringent Prevention of Anti-Social Activities (PASA) Act. After negotiations, the bribe amount was settled at ₹2 lakh, as the accused could only arrange that sum. However, rather than complying with the unlawful demand, the individual approached the ACB, leading to a well-planned sting operation.

ACB Sting: Middleman Caught Taking Bribe

To avoid direct involvement, Shrimali sent a private person, Mitul Rajubhai Gohil, to collect the bribe near Kana Restaurant on New CG Road. Unbeknownst to them, the ACB had already set its trap. The moment Gohil accepted the money, ACB officers swooped in, catching him red-handed. With concrete evidence in hand, the bureau immediately launched proceedings against both the policeman and his accomplice.

Corruption Crackdown in Ahmedabad Police

This incident has once again raised serious questions about corruption within the police force, even as authorities attempt to reinforce law and order in the city. The case highlights how some officers misuse their power, turning legal threats into lucrative opportunities. The ACB’s swift action sends a strong message that corruption within the law enforcement ranks will not be tolerated.

With an official case now registered against both Shrimali and Gohil, further investigations are underway. The ACB is expected to dig deeper into whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger network of corrupt activities within the Chandkheda police station.
