Ahmedabad : The Union Budget 2025-26, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has introduced significant measures to enhance the education sector in India. The budget outlines initiatives that focus on technology-driven learning, medical education expansion, and linguistic inclusivity to create a robust and accessible education framework.

One of the key highlights is the Bharat Bhasha Scheme, which aims to provide Indian language books in digital format for schools and higher education institutions. This initiative is expected to bridge the gap in learning accessibility, ensuring that students can study subjects in their native languages.

Speaking on the budget’s impact, Rishabh Jain, President of Swarrnim Startup and Innovation University, said, “The 2025-26 India Budget is a game-changer for the education sector. The government’s decision to integrate regional languages into digital education platforms will empower students across the country. Additionally, the investment in AI-driven education will pave the way for modernized learning methodologies.”

To drive technological advancements in education, the budget has allocated ₹500 crore to establish a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Education. This initiative aims to integrate AI-based learning solutions, enhancing the quality of education and making it more interactive and adaptive to students’ needs.

Medical education has also received a significant boost, with the government announcing the addition of 10,000 new seats in medical colleges and hospitals within the next year. Over the next five years, 75,000 seats will be introduced, substantially strengthening India’s healthcare education infrastructure.

Vishal Chiripal, Managing Director of Shanti Education Initiatives Limited, welcomed these measures, stating, “The expansion of medical education is a crucial step in addressing the growing demand for healthcare professionals in India. Increasing the number of medical seats will not only improve access to quality education but will also contribute to better healthcare services in the long run.”

These budgetary allocations reaffirm the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and accessibility in the education sector. With substantial investments in digital learning, AI-driven solutions, and medical education expansion, the Union Budget 2025-26 aims to shape the future of education in India.
