Ahmedabad : A police sub-inspector from the State Monitoring Cell (SMC), Gujarat was killed and two other constables were seriously injured when their Fortuner car collided with the bootlegger’s car on the highway between Dasada and Kathada village in Surendranagar district.

The deceased PSI Jahid Khan Pathan departed Ahmedabad for Surendranagar with two of his constables, Dinesh Rawat and Krishnadevsinh Jadeja, after receiving intelligence that a car from Rajasthan had entered Gujarat with a large stockpile of IMFL whiskey.

The PSI and his two constables were chasing the Hyundai Creta car on the route between Dasada and Kathada villages in Surendranagar district when they collided. All of the injured police officers were promptly transported to the hospital in Viramgam, where the PSI died. A complaint in this regard has been filed with the Dasada police station.

PSI JM Pathan of the State Monitoring Cell team received information that a Creta car carrying liquor was about to pass. PSI Pathan obstructed the Dasada-Patdi route near Kathada village around 2.30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, the Creta car of the same description drove off the road. When PSI Pathan and his team went off in a Fortuner vehicle to chase it, their car crashed with the back of the trailer truck, resulting in a serious accident.

Nirlipt Rai, the chief of SMC in Gujarat, revealed that PSI Pathan had got information that a car from Rajasthan had entered Gujarat with booze and was on its way to Surendra Nagar. He left Ahmedabad as soon as he received the news, driving a Fortuner and accompanied by two constables.

According to Rai, the SMC conducts confidential searches and operations and uses private vehicles. PSI Pathan was also in a private automobile, standing near Dasada with a team to keep an eye on the bootlegger’s vehicle.

According to Rai, the Creta driver collided with the Fortuner and PSI Pathan before speeding away. Aside from the IMFL liquor, Pathan’s information indicated that there was anything unusual in the car. Pathan and the two constables were rushed to the Dasada Primary Health Centre before being transferred to the Viramgam Hospital for further treatment.

According to official reports, the Creta automobile entered Gujarat from the Gujarat-Rajasthan border and headed towards Dasada hamlet. The automobile must have been captured on CCTV cameras. However, when transporting booze by road, bootleggers utilize false number plates. The authorities will have difficulty obtaining the original registration number of the car operated by the bootleggers.

SMC operates independently; even this time, the SMC team did not notify the local police and did not accompany them during the operation.

PSI Pathan’s body was taken to Ahmedabad and given over to his family.

The deceased PSI lived in Juhapura, Ahmedabad. He is survived by his children and wife, with whom he lived. One of his brothers also works with the Ahmedabad Police. His name appeared among numerous senior officials in the State Monitoring Cell. Alcohol-gambling has become rampant in dry Gujarat. While the police officer is working at the danger of his life, the family is losing their livelihood as a result of the bootlegger’s actions.

In a similar instance, ASI Baldev Neenama attempted to stop a car loaded of whiskey at Kanbha Police Station in rural Ahmedabad, but the bootlegger ran over him. In which ASI Baldev Neenama was killed. Kanbha police filed a report and began an inquiry. Meanwhile, the accused was also apprehended. During the accused’s inquiry, phone information indicated that certain police personnel communicated with the bootlegger. Similarly, the names of police officers may be released as part of the inquiry into the bootlegger in this incident, which occurred in Surendranagar.
