AAP office burgled, key documents suspected stolen

Ahmedabad : It has emerged that the regional office of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Ahmedabad was targeted by suspected burglars who broke the lock of the main entrance. The party has raised concerns that crucial documents might have been stolen, as they suspect the break-in was politically motivated. Local police conducted a preliminary investigation following the incident, and AAP has announced its intention to file a formal complaint detailing potential losses.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday evening, during the Diwali holiday when most employees were on leave. According to AAP, the employee responsible for overseeing the office had locked the premises in the afternoon before heading to a relative’s home. When the employee returned around 7 p.m., they discovered the lock broken and immediately alerted party colleagues. AAP workers then notified the police via the emergency helpline.

AAP leaders expressed frustration over the incident, stating that “even the common man in Gujarat is not safe, let alone the office of a political party.” The break-in has raised concerns about security and the possible targeting of opposition parties in the state.

Preliminary police investigations have yet to determine what items, if any, were taken from the office. However, AAP officials believe that thieves could have specifically targeted sensitive documents or data from the office, rather than seeking financial gain. A particular focus has been placed on documents from the chamber of AAP state president Yesudan Gadhvi, where valuable party records are stored.

Party members have since been combing through files to identify any potential losses, and they plan to lodge a formal First Information Report (FIR) with the police later today. The incident has prompted questions about security for political offices in Gujarat, as AAP claims this incident could have broader implications for the safety of political opposition in the state.
