Surat : The communal violence that erupted following the stone pelting on Ganesha pandal in Syedpura, Surat, late Sunday night has an Uttar Pradesh connection. In a major revelation, authorities have acquired substantial proof that the culprits involved in stone pelting are from Uttar Pradesh and that the entire event was pre-planned. They (the accused) arrived in Surat from Uttar Pradesh, obtained motorcycles from friends and relatives in the city, and parked their vehicle about 2.5 kilometers from the Ganesha pandal in Syedpura. They arrived with backpacks full of stones as part of a bigger scheme to incite communal unrest in Surat.

During the continuing investigation into the Ganesha pandal stone pelting and communal unrest in Syedpura, Surat police acquired disturbing evidence that the culprit who pelted stones traveled to Surat and stayed with family and acquaintances. The accused had already gathered stones to incite communal tensions in Syedpura.

An investigation into the incident indicated that five of the 23 accused were subjected to harsh interrogation by the police, and it was discovered that the accused had come from Uttar Pradesh with the intention of causing a large disturbance in Syedpur. 25 of the 27 accused were brought before the court, and the police demanded 14 days of remand. 24 of the accused were granted two days of remand, with the exception of one who was left out due to illness.

The police have filed a case under various sections relating the occurrence, as well as a case against the teens, to ensure that their parents receive the message and that other children do not learn the same. Attempts have been made to apprehend the major accused. The majority of the suspects were traced via CCTV, and 28 were detained during the combing operation at night.

According to the police commissioner, three cases have been filed in connection with the stone-throwing and communal violence incidents.  One of the three offences has been registered under the Juvenile Act, the assault on the police section has been added, the crime of burning a car has been registered, and a complaint has been filed against the mob. Strict action was taken against the culprits earlier, and the police dispersed the mob with tear gas. Those apprehended in Ganesh Mandal were taken to the police station for questioning.

According to the police commissioner, the technological team was on the job, and the culprits were detained with the help of CCTV. There is now tranquility in the city, and according to sources, everything is running smoothly, and citizens are asked not to believe any rumors. Ganesha has been erected in the Syedpura area for several years. In Syedpura, individuals from both communities have lived in communal harmony for many years.
