Ahmedabad : By creatively leveraging Gujarat’s renowned folk song to promote educational awareness, Chandreshkumar Bholashankar Borisagar, the Acting Principal of Badhadapara Primary School in Amreli, has exemplified a unique approach to innovation in the field of education. Committed to the mission of strengthening the nation through educational progress, Chandreshkumar has transformed what could be seen as mundane and challenging educational tasks into engaging and dynamic learning experiences through his innovative experiments. The positive impact of these initiatives is evident in the comprehensive development of his students. In recognition of his dedication and significant contributions to education, he will be honoured with the National Teachers Award 2024. This year, a total of 50 teachers from across the country will receive this prestigious award, with Chandreshkumar Borisagar from Gujarat and Vinay Shashikant Patel, a teacher from Vadala High School in Anand, being selected from the state.

“I Simplify Education Through Music, Performance, and Play”

A passionate musician, Chandreshkumar talked about his educational innovations, saying, “My love for music has significantly improved my teaching approach. I created a mobile school on a bike and used songs to motivate children to learn. By incorporating local folk songs into the curriculum, I’ve found that music greatly boosts student engagement. In the classroom, integrating music through singing, playing instruments, and performing has successfully made complex subjects easier to understand”.

The National Education Policy Heralds a New Dawn

Discussing the significance of the National Education Policy, Chandreshkumar remarked, “The National Education Policy 2020 has dawned a new era. Chapter 4.7 prioritizes making learning enjoyable through art, while Chapter 4.8 emphasizes education through sports, focusing on children’s physical and mental well-being. This visionary approach has reignited my passion for advancing the innovative work I’ve been doing. It plays a vital role in shaping the future of our children while upholding the cultural values of India.”

Innovative Approach: Alphabets on Carrom Board and Tree Branches, English Poems Played Over School Speakers

At Bardapara Primary School, English poems are played on speakers outside the classroom as a listening exercise to enhance language learning. This method has helped children improve their English by absorbing the language through poetry. Additionally, innovative techniques have been introduced, such as writing alphabets on tree branches and carom boards. When children see these letters, they easily imprint them in their minds and develop a greater interest in learning. Along with traditional reading and writing, listening, speaking, and acting are incorporated into various sports activities and homework, supporting both the physical and mental well-being of the students. These creative approaches are yielding positive results for the overall development of the students.
