Surat : The District Education Office (DEO) of Surat has issued notices to the SD Jain International School and other two schools for violating the education department’s circular announcing holiday in the schools across the State following the Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy to heavy rains on Tuesday.

Following the Gujarat Government’s directive, the DEO office in Surat issued a circular to all the schools in Surat city and district to announce holiday in their respective schools following heavy to heavy rains and flood like situation on August 27. However, SD Jain International school, Sungress School and North Gujarat school violated the DEO’s circular and the schools were operational on Tuesday.

District Education Officer Dr. Bhagirathsinh Parmar received information that the SD Jain International School and two other schools were operational on Tuesday despite the circular issued by the DEO office. However, Parmar immediately summoned  the principals of the three schools to the office and ordered the students to leave immediately. Also notices were given to all the three schools.

Sources said that the DEO office sent notices to SD Jain International school and two other schools citing the circular of the education department. It was mentioned in the notice that the education department had ordered a holiday in all the schools across the State on August 27 following the weather forecast of heavy to heavy rain. However, SD Jain International school and two other schools remained operational, so what were the reasons and why the school managements had to keep the school operational, to which a written reply was sought from the school principals.
