Daman MP Umesh Patel Objects to UT Administrator’s Unannounced Visits

Daman, UT : Umesh Patel, the independent Member of Parliament from the Daman and Diu constituency, has expressed strong objections to the actions of Praful Patel, the Administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH), Daman, and Diu. The MP has raised concerns over the Administrator’s unannounced visits to his constituency without prior notification, calling it an undermining of the elected public representative’s role.

Umesh Patel, the independent MP representing Daman and Diu, has taken a firm stand against Praful Patel, the Administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH), Daman, and Diu. In a letter addressed to the advisor of the UT Administrator, Umesh Patel demanded that he be informed about all scheduled visits of the UT Administrator in his constituency. Patel emphasised that such communication is essential for the effective implementation of ongoing and upcoming projects.

In his letter, Umesh Patel expressed his shock upon discovering a scheduled visit by the UT Administrator in the Daman district without prior notice to him, despite his position as the elected MP of the constituency. He described this oversight as “totally unconstitutional and not in good taste for a person holding such a high post to undermine the people’s representative.”

Patel insisted on his constitutional right to be involved in the visits of the UT Administrator to Daman. “I want an authorised representation to get involved during the visits of the UT Administrator in Daman as it is my constitutional right. In the future, whenever there are any visits by administrative officials in the region, I should be informed beforehand,” he stated.

The MP highlighted his responsibilities towards ensuring that the projects undertaken in the region genuinely benefit the local population. He stressed the importance of monitoring the proper utilisation of development funds allocated to the territory. “It is my responsibility to assure that the works that are going on in the region are really beneficial for the people at large or the territory and also check that the development fund allocated is utilised in a proper way,” Patel added.
