Surat : With 60,851 passengers altogether for the financial year 2023–24, the Surat-Sharjah air path has demonstrated a staggering pace of growth. Originally launched five years ago, this route has gradually ascended the ranks to appeal to more and more travelers.

The Surat-Dubai route, which had 17,989 passengers in the same period, performs notably in line with the noteworthy rise in passenger traffic on the Surat-Sharjah path. In the financial year 2023–24, these routes helped 78,840 passengers total to travel from Surat, Sharjah, and Dubai.

Key operators on these routes are Air India Express and Indigo Airlines, which both serve flights Surat and Dubai and Surat and Sharjah respectively. These three to four day flights meet the increasing demand for overseas travel from Surat.

Beginning activities in the 2018-19 fiscal year, the Surat-Sharjah path has shown amazing expansion over years. Its first year saw 2,812 passengers, then a notable increase to 44,263 passengers in 2019–20. The worldwide epidemic most likely caused the numbers to drop to 15,263 passengers in 2020-21; nevertheless, they rapidly recovered to 33,818 passengers in 2022-23. At 60,851 passengers, the most recent estimates for 2023–24 highlight the route’s growing popularity and resiliency.

The Surat-Sharjah route, which Air India Express had already built, still rules in terms of passenger count even if Indigo Airlines launched the Surat-Dubai route following their already existing route. This pattern emphasizes Surat’s visitors’ great inclination for the Sharjah location.

The increasing economic and cultural linkages between Surat and the UAE as well as the increased connectivity and convenience for passengers point to the surge in passenger traffic on these routes reflecting both these aspects. The steady rise in numbers over the years points to a strong demand that airlines are probably going to take advantage of, maybe resulting in more frequent flights and future additional routes.
