RAJKOT, GUJARAT : Nitin Ramani, a BJP Councillor from ward number 13  in Rajkot finds himself embroiled in a controversy following allegation of bribery involving Rs 1.50 lakh to halt the demolition of TRP game zone in Rajkot and recommending the regularization of the game zone under the Impact fee law.

Ramani, who was summoned by the SIT investigating into the Rajkot game zone fire incident, has spilled the beans over his role after Yuvraj Singh, manager of RTP game zone, revealed about his involvement during the interrogation by the SIT.

Ramani played a pivotal role in ensure that the illegal construction at the TRP game zone is regularized with the payment of impact fee under the Impact act of the Gujarat Government. However the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) did not responded to the impact fee payment request made by Ramani.

Consultants TRP game zone have revealed when they applied for the fire NOC, a check list was given as to where the fire safety equipment should be installed. After which the owners of TRP Game Zone said that they will not install fire safety equipment saying that they were too expensive.  Also, the manager avoided buying fire safety equipment to avoid spending more money.

About 6 officials of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, Fire Brigade and Police Department were interrogated by the SIT and their statements were recorded. It is possible that some officers will be cross-examined for the second time regarding the new issues that will arise during the closed-door interrogation and statement processing at the State Crime Record Bureau office of the State Police at Gandhinagar for the last two days.

Following a police investigation into the TRP Gamezone fire incident, no police personnel were found culpable. The police officers received clearance, with assertions that their role was limited to ticket distribution and unrelated to the incident’s approval or cause. No criminal charges will be filed against any police officers.
