VADODARA, GUJARAT : Around 150 aggrieved individuals gathered at Gotri Police Station in Vadodara on Wednesday, demanding action against Bhikhu Koriya, a builder accused of refusing to hand over possession of homes and shops despite taking payments. Koriya, who runs a construction project named Kishan Ambrosia under Koriya Infra Pvt. Ltd., has allegedly left the site abandoned for the past ten months, causing distress among the buyers.

The scene at the police station turned chaotic as the crowd, frustrated by six years of unmet promises, sought to file complaints. The situation intensified when Naynaben Tewani, a 40-year-old woman, fainted due to dizziness and had to be rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

Sheila Baria, one of the protesters, expressed her frustration, saying, “It has been six years since I booked a flat at the Kishan Ambrosia site. The builder promised possession by December 2023, but there’s no sign of it. Everyone has paid 70 percent of the money, yet we are left in limbo. The builder refuses to refund our money, and the police are not registering our complaints. About 150 of us have gathered here, all in the same predicament.”

Lawyer Harshad Parmar, representing one of the affected buyers, added, “My client paid 55 lakh rupees for two shops. Despite scheduling an appointment to finalize the documentation, the builder never showed up. We came to the police station to file a complaint, but the police keep delaying. Some people have already filed complaints alleging the builder’s intent to flee abroad. We submitted our case to the Police Inspector (PI), who assured us that our complaint would be registered tomorrow. However, my client’s complaint remains unregistered.”

PI R.N. Patel of Gotri Police Station acknowledged the protests and stated, “We have registered a complaint of fraud involving 7.21 lakh rupees against Bhikhu Koriya and his wife, who are behind Koriya Infra Pvt. Ltd. The allegations claim that the builder failed to provide possession of the properties as promised, and the site has been inactive for several months. Today’s crowd at the police station was demanding immediate action.”

Despite the police’s assurances, the protesters remained skeptical. They accused the authorities of being unresponsive and failing to take their plight seriously. “The builder is not responding, and the police are not acting fast enough. We need justice, and we need it now,” said another protester.

The gathered crowd highlighted the widespread dissatisfaction and distrust among the buyers who invested their life savings into properties that remain undelivered. The situation highlights the broader issue of regulatory enforcement and the accountability of builders in the real estate sector.

The case against Bhikhu Koriya and his wife is now officially in motion in Vadodara, but the affected individuals are demanding quicker and more decisive action. They fear that without prompt intervention, their chances of recovering their investments or securing their promised properties will diminish.
