The proposed logistic park is envisioned as a comprehensive hub encompassing processing, value addition, storage, and essential infrastructure tailored to meet the evolving needs of the agricultural sector.
Ahmedabad : In a significant stride towards bolstering agricultural infrastructure and empowering farmers, Nitin Patel, the former deputy chief minister of Gujarat, spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony of an integrated logistic park in Mehsana. This ambitious project, facilitated by GUJCOMASOL with an estimated expenditure of Rs.65 crore, promises to revolutionize the agricultural landscape of the region.
The proposed logistic park is envisioned as a comprehensive hub encompassing processing, value addition, storage, and essential infrastructure tailored to meet the evolving needs of the agricultural sector.
Among its prominent features, the park will house a state-of-the-art 20-tonne per day packing house dedicated to handling fruits and vegetables. Additionally, a 2-tonne per hour unit for frozen fruit and vegetable processing, along with a robust 5,000-metric ton capacity cold storage facility, are slated to be integral components of the logistical framework. Further enhancing its capabilities, the park will include a 2,000-metric ton capacity frozen store and a sprawling 63,000-square-foot export warehouse facility.
The significance of this endeavor extends beyond infrastructural development, as it promises tangible benefits for a vast network of agricultural stakeholders. With 7 district sanghs, 80 taluka sanghs, over 2,000 farmer cooperatives, and approximately 4 lakh farmers set to reap the rewards, the integrated logistic park emerges as a beacon of hope and prosperity. Farmers spanning Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Patan, Arvalli, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad districts will gain direct access to the facility, enabling them to seamlessly market their produce and enhance their economic prospects.
In a statement marking the occasion, GUJCOMASOL chairman Dilip Sanghani articulated the organization’s expansive vision, highlighting plans to establish 250 malls dedicated to the procurement and sale of farm produce. This ambitious roadmap underscores a concerted effort to modernize agricultural practices, foster sustainable growth, and empower farmers with robust market access avenues.
