Surat : Students at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) in Surat are resorting to unusual tactics to secure passing marks in their re-examinations. Instead of focusing on studying for the Additional Term Key Tests (ATKTs), some students are sending whimsical applications to the university, pleading for leniency and even questioning the professors’ marking abilities.

One such application, obtained by sources, reads: “Sir, the professor is not checking the answer sheet properly. I have failed this exam five times! Please give me some passing marks.” This student’s desperate plea highlights the growing trend of unorthodox petitions at VNSGU, raising questions about the seriousness with which some students approach their academic obligations.

The university, however, has remained unfazed by these quirky appeals. “If any student has doubts about their grading, we encourage them to avail the re-assessment or re-checking facilities,” stated a university official. “These procedures are in place to address genuine concerns, not replace proper preparation for exams.”

Sources close to the university administration revealed that a majority of such applications come from students enrolled in the commerce stream. While the reasons for this disparity remain unclear, it suggests a potential gap between academic expectations and student performance in certain disciplines.

The rise of these bizarre petitions has sparked debate within the VNSGU community. Some faculty members express concern about the erosion of academic rigor, while others urge a more nuanced understanding of the pressures faced by students.

“While we must uphold academic standards, we should also acknowledge the various factors that can affect a student’s performance,” commented a senior professor. “Perhaps these petitions, however strange, are a cry for help, indicating a need for better academic support and guidance.”
