Surat : Divyesh Patel, the son of BJP councilor Ajit Ishwar Patel alias Ajit Bhesania, found himself in the hot seat after being arrested by Surat police. This arrest came following an altercation over a construction dispute in Bhesan village, where Divyesh resorted to firing from his licensed revolver.

The incident took place during a heated dispute between Divyesh Patel and Alpesh Bhabhor, a labor contractor, concerning the ongoing construction of Ishwar Kripa apartment, a residential project in Bhesan. The altercation reached a dire point when Divyesh allegedly fired from his licensed revolver, narrowly missing Bhabhor but hitting a nearby wall.

Prompt action was taken as soon as the authorities were alerted via an emergency call to 100. Pal police responded to the scene and confiscated the firearm from Divyesh Patel.

The repercussions of this alarming event have reverberated throughout Surat’s political circles, raising profound concerns about how Divyesh Patel, the corporator’s son, acquired the license for the revolver in question. This acquisition has sparked an immediate investigation, as the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the license warrant meticulous scrutiny.

Alpesh Bhabhor, the targeted labor contractor, wasted no time in filing a complaint, leading to the police registering a case against Divyesh Patel. Charges including atrocity, attempted murder, and sections under the Arms Act have been levied against the young Patel, adding serious legal weight to the situation.

According to the police report, the confrontation between Divyesh and Alpesh stemmed from a clash over the construction activity at the Ishwar Kripa apartment site on a fateful Wednesday evening.

The incident has not only brought attention to the altercation but also shed light on the pressing matter of how such a potentially lethal weapon came into the possession of a politically connected individual.

As investigations unfold, questions are being raised on Divyesh Patel’s acquisition of a firearm license, hoping for a clearer understanding of the events leading up to the disturbing incident. The case stands as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible firearm ownership and the critical need for stringent oversight in the issuance of licenses.

The implications of this event extend beyond the immediate altercation, prompting discussions and concerns about firearm regulations and the accountability of those in positions of influence and authority.
