Surat :  A festive atmosphere took a somber turn on Thursday when a young man in his twenties, identified as Raj Dharmesh Modi, tragically collapsed and lost his life due to a severe heart attack while practicing garba at LP Savani Road in Surat. The incident has raised concerns about the health of youngsters participating in energetic dance routines during the Navratri festival.

Raj Dharmesh Modi was actively participating in garba practice at a local venue when the unexpected tragedy unfolded. He suddenly fell unconscious during the lively dance performance, leaving those around him in shock. Despite immediate efforts to provide medical assistance, the young man succumbed to the heart attack before he could be rushed to a hospital.

His lifeless body was later transported to the New Civil Hospital (NCH) for a post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death. Shockingly, sources reveal that Raj Dharmesh Modi had plans to pursue higher studies in London following the Navratri festivities, making this untimely loss even more heartbreaking for his family and friends.

While preliminary reports indicate that Raj suffered a severe heart attack while engrossed in the spirited garba dance, further investigation is required to ascertain the exact cause of his tragic demise.

This incident has drawn attention to a concerning trend of heart attacks among young individuals in Surat and Gujarat in recent months, highlighting the importance of health and safety during the festive season.

In response to the growing concerns, the medical community in Surat has united to take proactive measures. It has been unanimously decided to provide CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training to garba organizers and their staff members. Additionally, teams of doctors and health workers will be stationed at garba venues to respond to any emergency situations that may arise during the Navratri festival.

Dr. Yogesh Desai, the President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Surat, emphasized the importance of these measures, stating, “There is a government notification for providing emergency medical services at the garba venue, and we are going to follow it in Surat as well. The doctors and health staff are training the garba organizers and their teams in the vital CPR technique to rescue lives during such festive gatherings.”
