Surat : In a truly extraordinary feat, a Surat-based hospital has etched its name in the annals of medical history by witnessing the birth of 31 babies from 30 pregnant women all in a single day.

The awe-inspiring event took place at the Matrushri Ramuba Tejani and Matrushri Shantaba Vidya Hospital, managed by the Surat Diamond Association (SDA) Health Committee in Varachha. The hospital corridors resonated with the enchanting sounds of newborns as this unprecedented phenomenon unfolded.

The day’s deliveries included a delightful mix of 17 daughters and 14 sons, creating an atmosphere of celebration and joy. Gynecologists who have been serving at the hospital for years were taken aback by this remarkable occurrence, marking the first time in the hospital’s decade-long history that 30 pregnant women gave birth on the same day.

The scenes within the hospital’s operation theaters and gynecology ward were nothing short of extraordinary, with doctors, nurses, and staff working tirelessly to attend to the expecting mothers. The hospital staff shared in the elation of this unique day, and the trustees and management expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical team for their exceptional efforts.

However, this hospital’s distinction doesn’t end with this extraordinary feat. The institution’s commitment to both medical excellence and societal progress is evident through their benevolent initiatives.

Normal delivery charges at the hospital are a mere Rs 1,800, and for those blessed with daughters, no charge is incurred. Additionally, the cost for a cesarean delivery stands at a nominal Rs 5,000. Remarkably, for couples welcoming more than one daughter at the hospital, each daughter is bestowed with a bond worth one lakh rupees.

This initiative has resulted in a total of 20 crore worth of bonds being granted to 2,000 daughters, making a substantial contribution to the “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Yojana” (Save Daughter, Educate Daughter Scheme) of the Government of India.
