Surat : In a swift and heroic operation, the Surat fire and emergency services of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) successfully rescued two workers who were trapped inside a recovery water tank at CT Industrial, Shreeji Engineering located in Udhana, Surat.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning, causing concern among onlookers. The timely intervention by the fire fighters averted a potential tragedy at the facility owned by Jayantibhai Bhadabhai.

The emergency unfolded when two workers entered the tank for cleaning purposes and became unconscious, likely due to suffocation. The situation quickly escalated, prompting a distress call to the Surat fire and emergency services. The dedicated team of firefighters promptly arrived at the scene, equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) and breathing apparatus (BA) sets to ensure their safety during the rescue operation.

The fire fighters swiftly devised a plan and executed a daring rescue mission, braving the confined space and potential hazards. Their expertise and professionalism allowed them to navigate the challenging environment of the recovery water tank and reach the trapped workers. With utmost care and precision, they rescued both victims from the perilous situation.

Following the rescue, the workers, identified as Dinesh (45) and Milan (24), were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The latest reports suggest that their condition is stable, indicating a successful recovery. The timely intervention of the Surat fire and emergency services played a vital role in saving their lives.

Basant Pareek, the chief fire officer of SMC, shed light on the incident, explaining that the workers had entered the recovery water tank for cleaning purposes but succumbed to unconsciousness due to suffocation. He praised the bravery and quick response of the fire fighters, highlighting their dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to strict safety protocols and regulations in industrial settings. Employers must prioritize the well-being of their workers and provide appropriate safety measures to prevent such incidents. Regular training and awareness programs on workplace safety can go a long way in preventing accidents and safeguarding the lives of workers.
