IDF World Dairy Summit 2022 declared carbon neutral event during experience sharing & felicitation programme organised in New Delhi

Anand: During the experience sharing & felicitation programme held in New Delhi on 13th February 2023 to commemorate successful organisation of the World’s largest ever IDF World Dairy Summit 2022 which was held in September 2022, another feather was added in the cap as the Summit was declared as a carbon neutral event. This announcement was made by Shri Parshottam Rupala, Hon’ble Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying who praised the organisers for taking various environment friendly measures during the summit to make it the first World Dairy Summit to achieve this feat.

During his address, the Hon’ble Minister Shri Parshottam Rupala congratulated everyone who contributed in their own way in meticulous planning and organising IDF WDS and mentioned that learnings in organising the summit will help in planning future events.

The event was also graced by Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying who mentioned that that IDF WDS 2022 seems to be the first such event in the dairy sector which was graced by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs & Cooperation, seven other Union Ministers which gave a clear message to the world about importance of our dairy sector and that in India we do it in unison- “Sahakar se Samriddhi”.

The event was also attended by Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, DAHD as President, INC-IDF; Ms Varsha Joshi, Additional Secretary, DAHD and Shri Meenesh Shah, Member Secretary, INC-IDF. Officials from DAHD, NDDB, GCMMF, KMF, Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt Ltd, NDDB Dairy Services were also present. The participants, who played an important role in organising IDF-WDS 2022, shared their good memories and also the challenges faced and the way these were overcome while organizing such a colossal event.

Hon’ble Union Ministers Shri Rupala and Dr Balyan felicitated officers from various organisations for their untiring efforts in organising the summit and sponsors for making resources available to self-finance the Summit and the Uttar Pradesh administration for ensuring smooth conduct of the summit.

Shri Meenesh Shah, Member Secretary, INC-IDF briefed the participants on the salient features of IDF WDS 2022 and mentioned that with the theme ‘Dairy for Nutrition & Livelihood’ and demonstrating sustainable smallholder dairying system, we were able to show the World that dairying is actually a tool for development in our country. Further we were able to put forth to the World an important point that our smallholder dairying model, based primarily on feeding crop residues, is much more environmentally sustainable than other dairy developed nations. IDF-WDS 2022 helped in placing a correct perspective of our small holder dairy sector to the world.
