Mumbai : The salary of BharatPe’s top executives, including its founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover, has been revealed following the fintech startup’s regulatory filing. According to Moneycontrol, the ex-Shark Tank India judge earned 1.69 crore in FY22, while his wife, who was BharatPe’s head of controls, earned 63 lakh.
According to the filings, Suhail Sameer, the former CEO of BharatPe, earned 2.1 crore in FY22, and co-founder Shashvat Nakrani earned 29.8 lakh during the same period. According to the report, board member Kewal Handa and chairman Rajnish Kumar, the former CEO of State Bank of India, were paid 36 lakh and 21.4 lakh, respectively.
However, the share-based payment made to these executives is not included in their disclosed salaries. According to the company’s financials, it spent 70 crore in share-based payments in FY22, a 218% increase over the previous year, according to the report.
BharatPe fired Ashneer Grover and his wife in March of last year for alleged financial irregularities. Days later, the founder resigned from the company and its board of directors. In December 2022, the fintech company filed a criminal lawsuit against Ashneer Grover and his family, seeking 88.67 in damages. It accused the founder of deception and embezzlement.
Suhail Sameer, the CEO of BharatPe, stepped down earlier this month. BharatPe announced that he will “transition from chief executive officer to strategic advisor effective January 7, 2023” in a statement. He claimed last year that BharatPe did not have enough money to pay its employees’ salaries because Ashneer Grover stole it all.
The Delhi High Court summoned Ashneer Grover last week in connection with a suit filed by BharatPe co-founder Bhavik Koladiya, who wants to reclaim the shares he transferred to Mr Grover.
