New Delhi (India) : Founders Day was recently celebrated with zeal at Ajeenkya DY Patil University. Ashish Gawade: founder of Jeevtronics, Dr. Shrikant Pradhan, Professor Fine Arts, Deccan College, Professor Madhavi Godbole, Professor, Sanskrit, MIT ADT, and academic staff from the university were present on this occasion. Prof. Hrridaysh Deshpande, Vice Chancellor of ADYPU, inaugurated the ‘Centre of Advanced Indian Studies’ at the university. The CAIS emerges as an extension of ADYPU President Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil’s vision.

ADYPU is dedicated to graduating well-educated students who are prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing, increasingly complex world while also contributing to global betterment. The University is steadfast in its belief that our glorious tradition is a shared heritage of all humanity. To excel in educational endeavours, one must gain insights from its culture and heritage.

The goal of establishing the ‘Centre of Advanced Indian Studies’ is to initiate a lengthy and significant process. It seeks to derive from the rich Indian Knowledge Systems in order to meet current needs while also absorbing intellectual traditions.

“We envision teaching and learning in all disciplines, including the Indian context,” said Dr. Ajeenkya D Y Patil. Our students must learn from all sources of knowledge from all over the world. They should not be unaware of our history. They should be aware of the practical knowledge that has been passed down through generations through oral transmission. They should be familiar with our intellectual traditions and epics. It is critical that they recognise the existing treasure trove of knowledge in fields such as agriculture, textiles, architecture, and medicine.”

According to Prof. Hrridaysh Deshpande, the Centre will be a multidisciplinary research and teaching centre for Indian Knowledge Systems ranging from astronomy and mathematics to metaphysics, grammar, logic, literature, and linguistics. CAIS would be an online integral educational platform that would translate this research into transferable knowledge in the form of programmes and serve as a conduit for accessible human-centered education by fusing wisdom and technology, tradition and modernity, and wellness and everyday life.

ADYPU’s initiative aims to target learners based on horizontal and vertical goals. Horizontally, we address the mind, body, and spirit through six Personal Development domains: Spiritual, Moral, Physical, Interpersonal, Emotional, and Cognitive. Vertically, the platform will provide a comprehensive educational experience through its programmes in Leadership & Management, Society, Technology & Culture, Health & Wellness, Science of Happiness, and Philosophy of Mind.”

ADYPU’s “Centre of Advanced Indian Studies” initiative ushers in a new era of education.
