Malay hopes to repeat three-peat, Sonal eyes more glory in 2nd Gujarat State Masters TT Tournament

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], November 26: Table Tennis Association of Ahmedabad (TTAA) is all set to host its first major state tournament in two years as Surat’s Malay Thakkar will be hoping to recreate his hattrick of titles while Bhavnagar’s Sonal Joshi will look to shine in the women’s draw at the 2nd Gujarat State Masters Table Tennis Tournament that will be played at the Ahmedabad Racquet Academy on November 27 and 28.

Organised by the TTAA under the aegis of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association and Gujarat State Veteran Table Tennis Committee, the tournament will see more than 200 veteran stars participating in various categories.

Veteran ‘youngster’ Malay, who swept the 49-59 years category winning the men’s singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles titles in 1st Tournament in Modasa, will be seeking to maintain his dominance.

Like Malay, Rajkot’s Sikander Jam, Gandhinagar’s Haresh Rathod, and Ahmedabad’s Dilip Shah will be looking to repeat their performance in their respective age categories.

Sonal, who had won titles in Women’s 39 & above doubles and Women’s 49-59 singles categories, could face stiff resistance from Ahmedabad’s Prasunna Parekh, who will be looking to add to her two titles in Modasa, while Neha Patel, also from Ahmedabad, will hope to better her second-place finish in Women’s 49-59 singles category.
