Surat, Gujarat – A major alert has been issued for farmers in Surat district as nearly 38,000 farmers are yet to register under the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) scheme, which is mandatory for receiving the next PM Kisan Yojana installment. With the deadline of July 10 fast approaching, the District Agriculture Department has intensified awareness efforts urging every farmer to complete the Farmer Registry immediately.
As part of the Central Government’s Digital Public Infrastructure mission for agriculture, DPI aims to digitize farmer data and streamline farmer-centric services. The scheme includes three key components: Agristack, Krishi Decision Support System, and Soil Profile Mapping.
Digital Agriculture Mission aims to create a digital public infrastructure for agriculture to provide comprehensive data on farmers and enable farmer-centric digital services. The three DPIs under the Mission are Agristack, Krishi Decision Support System, and Soil Profile Mapping.
So far, out of 1.55 lakh active farmer account holders in Surat district, only 1.17 lakh have registered, leaving a concerning gap of 38,000 farmers who could miss out on government benefits, including the next PM Kisan installment.
“If farmers fail to register by July 10, they won’t just miss the upcoming PM Kisan installment — they may also lose eligibility for future benefits under various government welfare schemes,” warned an official from the District Agriculture Office.
The Farmer Registry is essential to establishing farmer identity and ensuring timely, transparent delivery of benefits like agricultural credit, support price procurement, and subsidies under schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
Ease of Registration for All
For the convenience of farmers, the government has organized registration camps in all villages. Additionally, farmers living outside villages can self-register online at https://gjfr.agristack.gov.in or visit any Common Service Centre (CSC) nearby.
To complete the registration, farmers only need:
A copy of their Aadhaar card
Land ownership documents (8-A)
A mobile number linked to Aadhaar
“The process is very simple. Just show your documents to the operator for verification; you don’t need to submit copies,” emphasized the department official.
The DPI scheme is envisioned as a game-changer for Indian agriculture, integrating real-time data to support farmers with decision-making, weather alerts, subsidy disbursals, and crop-specific advisory.
Jayesh Delad, farmer leader said, “To ensure no farmer is left out of the world’s largest farmer welfare initiative, we urge every farmer to register for the Farmer Registry before July 10. This is not just about an installment; it’s about empowerment through digital transformation.”
