WR Implements Crowd Management at Surat and Udhna Stations during Summer Vacation Rush
Additional booking counters have been opened, with a total of 31 to 34 shifts being operated at Surat station
Surat : In anticipation of the ongoing summer vacation rush, Western Railway has taken several crowd management measures to control overcrowding at Surat and Udhna railway stations. Additional shifts of booking counters are being operated, and extra RPF staff have been deployed to streamline the movement of passengers.
According to a press release by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, additional booking counters have been opened, with a total of 31 to 34 shifts being operated at Surat station. RPF personnel have been stationed at entry/exit points and FOBs to regulate the crowd, and special arrangements have been made to keep an eye on the general coaches of north-bound trains.
CCTV surveillance is also being used to identify overcrowded areas, and regular announcements are being made to inform passengers about train schedules and coach positions. Additionally, railway officers have been deployed to monitor the situation and manage the crowds.
To meet the travel demand during summer vacation, Western Railway is operating 33 pairs of summer special trains to various destinations, with 5 pairs of originating special trains for passengers from Surat/Udhna. Waiting lists are monitored on a daily basis, and additional coaches are being added to clear extra rush. Passengers are urged to avoid overcrowding at the stations and enter station premises only according to train timings.
