Valsad Love Jihad Trafficking Allegations Trigger High-Level Probe Demand

Valsad | Gujarat — Valsad district has become the focus of intense controversy after Hindu and Jain community representatives alleged a “well-organised conspiracy” involving the targeting of girls under the guise of relationships, forced conversions, and suspicious overseas relocation. The matter has been escalated to senior police officials, with demands for a thorough and impartial investigation.

In a formal representation submitted to the Valsad district police chief, community members claimed that young women from Sanjan and surrounding areas in Umargam taluka were being “systematically trapped through emotional relationships and later exploited.” One community leader stated, “This is not being seen as isolated incidents, but a structured pattern that needs serious investigation.”

The complaint further alleges a new modus operandi involving the rapid arrangement of passports and visas to send girls abroad, particularly to London, followed by sudden marriages overseas. It also raises concerns about possible financial fraud and theft of valuables from victims’ homes during such incidents.

Authorities have been urged to examine potential violations of the Passport Act and visa regulations, and to investigate whether intermediaries, legal facilitators, or organised networks are involved. The representation also calls for scrutiny by women’s police units and cybercrime cells to determine whether digital manipulation, coercion, or blackmail played any role.

Police officials have not yet issued a detailed public statement but confirmed that representations have been received and will be reviewed as per procedure.

Community representatives have stressed that the case “may go beyond ordinary crime” and could involve broader trafficking concerns, urging a neutral investigation to establish facts and ensure justice for any potential victims.
