Vadodara : The Gujarat Energy Transmission Company (GETCO) faced a storm of protests in Vadodara after abruptly canceling its Electrical Assistance recruitment exams, sparking embarrassment for the state government.

In a bid to address the uproar, the administration swiftly transferred the General Manager of the Human Resources Department, issuing notices to him and other officials for explanations regarding the exam failure.

Following the upheaval, sources from the Energy Department in Gandhinagar disclosed that technical exams are rescheduled for December 28 and 29 at six locations. Candidates holding call letters will undergo pole climbing tests, with written exams slated for January 7th.

The saga began after GETCO conducted exams in two phases on March 06 and 09, 2023. Candidates from specific zones, including Rajkot, Bharuch, and Mehsana, reported discrepancies in pole exams, prompting the company to annul the entire set of exams, triggering statewide protests from affected and unaffected zones alike.

Protests swelled at GETCO’s Vadodara office and multiple centers, demanding prompt resolution. In response, Gujarat’s energy department scrutinized the process, pinpointing errors within the Human Resources department.

The immediate transfer of the General Manager and notices to implicated officers signal a stringent stance, seeking explanations to avert potential departmental action.
