Vadodara : Vadodara is abuzz with excitement as the city prepares to celebrate the upcoming Paris Olympics, set to commence on July 26, 2024. In a grand show of support for the Indian team, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation has announced that the opening ceremony of the Olympics will be broadcast live on all LED screens owned by the corporation across the city. This initiative aims to bring the spirit of the Olympics to the local community, fostering enthusiasm and support for the Indian athletes.

The city is not just stopping at broadcasting the opening ceremony. There are plans to play both local and international games in different areas of Vadodara, encouraging active participation from residents. Special efforts are being made to involve the youth and school students, ensuring they are part of this global celebration. Various schools across the city and district will conduct educational sessions about the Olympics, quizzes, and organize games to enhance students’ interest and awareness about the Olympic sports.

Adding to the excitement, Paralympic contestants from Vadodara and Gujarat will join the initiative, inspiring the community with their achievements. Information stands about the various Olympic events and Indian athletes will be placed at strategic locations throughout the city. Electronic hoardings will display live footage of the opening ceremony and events featuring Indian athletes, keeping the community engaged and informed.

District Collector Dilip Rana, along with other officials, is actively involved in these preparations. A video conference was held on Tuesday night from Gandhinagar, where the Collector and other officials discussed coordination plans with departments, including the youth cultural department and sports department office, to ensure seamless execution of the events.

Key locations such as Kamatibagh and Gotri Garden will feature live broadcasts of the opening ceremony. Additionally, there will be promotions highlighting the competitors from Vadodara and Gujarat, both for the Olympics and Paralympics. To further increase awareness, hoardings and social media campaigns will be launched, showcasing the excitement and encouraging community participation. Games will also be organized on various roads in the city, bringing the Olympic spirit to every corner.
